80% of all jobs are hidden jobs
The cdn. workforce is going to have massive retirement / baby boomer retirement. (This rumour started from the 1990's and today is May 30,2009)
You will be able to get a good job in 6 months and there will be no turning back after that (personally told to me by the visa officer)

he got very angry and told me that I could not insult his country like this. However he did not phone his buddies to hit/ assault me. So that is the magnanimity of Canadians.

Peace by TK

That is the ploy Canadian Immigration is playing on potentilal immigrants to get them into Canada with lot of money.
Get highly educated people to do labour jobs and make them to spend their own money which they earned in their home country.

For one --- no one is coming with a lot of money per Canadian standards ... Else there would be a majority of Investor category immigrants .

For two -- nobody is compelling you to stay ....... Canada is not the end of the world . You can always return / find better avenues ....

Those who stay despite odds find some advantage in doing so - that's common sense .

I would not put it as optimistic as you.
Some (like me) came with my life savings in 2002. You have to take a year lease of an apt.., spend a lot of money to study the market, do your networking etc.. and then you find after 2 or 3 years that Canada is not the place for honest workers who just want to live a good life by working hard. You canot go back b'cos :
1. you lost your seniority / job experience and you have a huge experience lag/ progressive job environment
2. Prices in India / Gulf have gone up and you find it hard to settle without money (you frequently lie to family in India that you are leading a good life in Canada). Even flight tickets for a family can run into thousands of $.
3. you start living in a labour job and living pay cheque to pay cheque (except people in IT or finance).
4. If you ever buy a house, you are trapped for good due to the 5 % you have to give the brokers while selling, closing fee costs (when you buy the house), property tax, insurance etcc... which prevents you from making a profit.

So it is always that you are prevented from leaving owing to a number of reasons and no one stays in the frozen land by choice.

Peace by TK

I found the post by a poster appalling that Can Govt fools immigrants into bringing their life's earning and stands to gain from it . This is not correct

INR 8 lacs may be good money in India but here in Canada its not even 20K ..........

Whatever earnings one brings (on average ) is not able to help after 1-2 years in Canadian living cost terms so it is grossly incorrect to assume that Canadian Govt is benefiting from the so called earnings that immigrants bring --- I m sure the Govt is ready and gives much more in terms of social benefits / EI / welfare if and when the need comes .....

TK ~ I agree with most of what you ve said but pray tell me ~ if you look at a long term horizon (10 - 20 yrs ) which holds better in terms of growth and income -

A. Staying in Canada in jobs which let one lead life pay cheque to pay cheque .... cost of living is high in Canada ........

B. Going back to India , starting afresh .... trying to bridge the lost seniority in couple of years and after 10 yrs ...... being at a much better position than before ...

Cost of living in India being lower - one does not have to live pay cheque to pay cheque ............. being a professional ......

What has been incurred should be taken as sunk cost .
