I applied for sponsoring my parents (who are residing in India) back in January 2010 and have just received (on August 4th 2013)a request for providing additional information and I have been asked to send this additional information and associated artifacts to the Mississuaga Case processing center within 90 days. I was a Permanent Resident when I applied for sponsoring my parents but am a Canadian citizen now.

I need some quick advise in regards to the Birth Certificate request:

My understanding on reading the checklist and guidelines is that the only Birth Certificate required is my Birth Certificate as the Sponsorer which shows my relationship to my parents.
Do my parents (my father being the Principal Applicant) need to provide their birth certificate as well? I dont see that requirement anywhere.

Please let me know. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
RM

Currently what they are looking for is your Birth Certificate. That will link you with your Birth Parents.

If your Parents got their Passports, then, they would have had a birth certificate or the proof of birth in the native place as a requirement and they did submit it to get their passport. If you have a copy or the original, it is advisable to hold on to it. It will become necessary very soon. Also the Indian High Commission based upon this certificate have started issuing Valid Birth Certificates all over, but at a cost. I think it will be a lot cheaper and easier to obtain a duplicate one there and you do have accessibility to it. If they do have it, then please submit a copy too, just to show that you have complied with it, if it is what they are looking for. (Which is not)

Hi Rahul

I guess we both are sailing in the same boat.I applied May 2010 and Got a request August 2nd,2013.Regarding the DOB certificate my father was born in my grandparents house(no DOB CERTIFICATE).So he went to MRO office and got a BIRTH CERTIFICATE for himself which is what I am going to submit.

Are you also sending the PCC's with the additional documents?what about the landing fee?

Cheer
Prince

Thanks Full House. As you stated, looks like they are only looking for my Birth Certificate which links me to my parents. They do have their passports but we dont have their birth certificates at this point. So I will leave that out for now as they have not asked for it.

Yes prince77, looks like we are on the same boat. However, the thing that is confusing me is if you are sponsoring your parents, is there any part in the checklist or instructions that mentions that your parents need to provide their DOB Certificate? I did not see it anywhere. It does say that I have to provide my DOB Certificate to prove my relation to my parents. Thats all I am thinking of providing. Can you please tell me where does it state the requirement for your parents to provide their DOB certificates.
Yes, I am working on the PCCs now and also may go ahead with the landing fee.

Hi Rahul,

Sorry for the confusion.I confirmed with my husband and it is just my DOB certificate that we need to submit. However my parents do have an AADHAR card just in case.
