My Dear Canadian Desi family,
I am very very happy today and thought, let me share the happiness with you guys first of all!!
I just got an e-mail confirming a very good job (Senior Manager-Marketing (Product Development)) in Hyderabad, India with one of the biggest telecom company in India. They are offering me a CTC package (cost to the company) of Rs. 6.6 lakhs plus company car and company leased accomodation (3 Bedrooms).
I am thinking of going back. I have already applied for my citizenship.
What do guys say?????????

I am trying the same. I did my citizenship test today.
Do you have any tips on how to get a good job in India. I am trying for bangalore or Pune (how is the weather in Pune?).
I think I will have language problems in hyderabad so I dont want to go there. I only speak Hindi (and of course English)..
I need a good job soon. Btw how long did it take you to get a decent offer since applying?

Totally depends on what your priorities are -
1. Money?? well I personally do not think it is something great - yes better than many, but nothing great to leave Canada. (my niece who works for a European airline in sales used to get that about 5 years ago - a package of 10 lakh)
2. Job Satisfaction? Well, if it offers you that, nothing like it!
3. Living with your own people - if you think you will not find Hyderabad different compared to whereever you come from. I was once offered a very good job in AP - I declined it simply because at that time I could not imagine leaving north India (Delhi/Punjab/UP/Rajasthan/MP belt) and my only reason to ask them not to give me that position was this, and later I accepted a lower position in Delhi!
4. Weather/pollution or lack of it/water and electricity availability.
And above all, your own 'dili sukoon'. If you think you will ultimately get that in India, and you do not have any liabilities to take care of in Canada (like children's high school etc.), there should be no second thinking. And in that case, why even think of citizenship - you have expressed time and again that you don't like this place. So if you do not want to live here, and do not like most of the things of this place, why consider even citizenship?

If we can unite, we can be the greatest!
Hi Sanjeev,
I am truly happy for you happyji
Perhaps this opportunity is what you were looking for? You dont need anybody to tell you that even the cleanest and most developed place is no good to one-self if the soul is not happy. If you think you will satisfy your inner self by going back, you surely should. Ultimately that is what all of us are after..even if we do not admit to ourself. I am sure whatever decision you make will be right for you. Home is where the heart is!
All the best to you.

O happyji , o balle balle bhai ...congratulations.... it is a great thing ...with car and accomodation your package is nothing less than 10 lacs ...you know what is best for yourself and all i can do is to wish you the very best ....i had a gloomy day at work and your post cheered me up
For all you know you are one of the first pioneers to start the reverse immigration trend to india ....
this also speaks volumes about our home country that it has reached a stage where people are beginning happily go back from Canada and US .... what could be a better testimony of india's turning around ...go for it my friend and give it your best...and never doubt your gut instincts .
i'd not get carried away by the remarks made earlier post about AP. probably it comes from ignorance about what is happeining in that part of the world ...i grew up in north india and lived in delhi all along but i found hydrabad and the entire south india for that matter a great place to live ...people are much nicer and i am sure if you go with an open mind you will love it ...
a co-worker's son( gora american) worked for lucent and went to bangalore and hydrabad ...and when he came back he was fascinated by AP ...our freind banjara should listen to him ...
you have nothing to lose if you leave canada ...u can always come back or send you kids back when they grow up ....
what a great news ....yeeah
( not howard dean's yeeaaah)

Some people make Things happen, Some watch Things happen, While others wonder what has happened.............
i think this is good oppurtunity because with your canadian experience, you can directly talk to American/European clients with ease.
Rs 6.6 akhs Gross means - You will get aleast Rs 35000-40,000 in hand(after tax) .If it is an IT company it is very good.
