I meant savings in INR in my previous post.
let me tell you one thing that I was able to save much more than 10 lakh in UK without any support from my spouce, since my wife was not working.

I have lived in the US and have lived in Canada, brief stint in the UK and brief stint(working) in India.
I can tell you that there is no place as inexpensive to live in as the US.
( I am not sure about savings in the gulf) but you can save the most living in the US.
cost of living is low(food, etc. is extremely cheap, taxes are lower) ( of course in the gulf I guess there are no taxes) and salaries are decent.
Canada is for living a decent life.
Gulf is for saving money but life is horrible.

How can you say life in the Gulf is horrible, have you lived in the Gulf before, if so, when & where ??
I would appreciate if you could elaborate your statement how life in the Gulf is horrible !!!!????
Money is good . But locals are stupid and rude. social life stinks.one has to follow hundred sharia laws. women have no freedom Men stare at them like pigs. no nature to see. desert all around. i have lived 10 years so i know. just a place to make money nothing else. all the indians discuss is about money in all the parties. very depressing place. i got away as soon as i had some money. there is a negetive energy in the air there.
I cannot follow my religion openly. The loud speakers blare out loudly 5 times a day scaring small children.
Canada has good vastu. i feel sukoon here even if i have to do labour job.there is a good feeling in the air. a positive energy. i like the canadian people.
Make money in the gulf then come to Canada and do any job and live peacefully forever but not in and around toronto. Rest of Canada is good. Toronto is like bhendi bajar with people in old, dirty torn lungi, dhoti, pajama, salwar kameez moving around.

Purely a personal choice - no arguments about that.
So once again, I would say I am not crisizing Canada - it is purely a personal choice what kind of life you like more - and again it is a personal choice why you still decide to continue living a life which does not provide you all that you like, because no situation or country can fulfill all your desires.

Agreed, money is good - the main reason why you also worked in the Middle East before migrating to Canada.
I do not agree the locals are stupid ..... if you were fortunate to mix around with the educated crowd in the Middle East, you would'nt have made the above statement.
Dubai which was a small trading port 30 years back is a key international tourism destination in the world map today. No body can dispute this fact and some of the best shopping malls in the world are located there with all the international brands. US and Canadian malls are nothing compared to it. If the locals were stupid, would they have achieved this at such a short span of time.

Social life of a person depends on each person's personality. If you are a social person and have developed a good friend's circle/ family group, then even if you stay in north pole, you will have a good social life.
Loser, You can't blame the Gulf just because you did not go out and develop a social life when you were in the Middle East.
Women have full freedom in all the Gulf countries, except one. Some of the Multinational companies in Dubai, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain & Muscat are headed by women.
Women are generally very decently dressed and nothing is exposed for the men to stare at. Men who are used to staring will stare, whether he is a canadian or an Indian or from the Middle East. The only difference is in the Middle East since the ladies are fully covered, nothing exposed.

No nature !!!!!! Have you visited Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait or Muscat recently. The above cities are full of greenery. You should see to believe I give full credit to the local authorities here for having changed the entire landscape of Middle East within such a short time. Dubai has two very good golf courses of international standard.
Imagine converting a natural desert into a green carpet. We should certainly appreciate the locals for standing against the nature and for investing a lot of money for greenery.
What is wrong in people discussing money and about the exotic holidays. It is better than discussing unemployment, night shifts, mortgage loan etc. etc.
No place in the world is depressing. Again it depends on your attitude to life.

The place you stayed 10 years ago do not allow you to follow religion opening, but then don't compare all the Countries in the ME in the same way. Most of the other Countries allow freedom for other religions. I know many christian, Hindu, Sikhs who worship regularly and have their own groups.
I don't believe in Canada has good Vastu and the entire Middle East is in bad vastu. When god has blessed the Middle East with black gold and the entire economy of the world depends on the price of crude oil going up or down, who will believe that Middle East has bad Vastu.
If you get Sukoon doing labour job in Canada, I cannot dispute it. It is a personal choice.

I agree with your statement about making money in the Gulf and then retiring in Canada, which ofcourse I intend doing.
If Asian people are moving around in Toronto as per your above description, in old, dirty torn lungi, dhoti, pajama etc. then I can imagine the level of poverty that is increasing in down-town Toronto.
