Hi,
My son was less than 3 years when his Canadian passport was first issued to him. The validity of the passport is 3 years.
He relocated to India when he was 2 years old. I would like to know from CDs on this forum if my son needs to be physically present in Canada before he is 3 years old? And can he renew his passport from India?
Thanks,
VD

Frequently asked questions
What if I'm a Canadian living in the United States?
If you submit an application in person or if an application is submitted on your behalf by an acceptable third party at a Passport Canada office in Canada, Passport Canada will mail the passport back to the U.S. address of the applicant. If you choose to pick up your passport at a Passport Canada office in Canada, you must do so in person. You cannot have a third party pick up your passport on your behalf.
If you are picking up your child's passport in person, the child must be present. An acceptable third party can pick up a child's passport in place of the applicant (the person applying on behalf of the child) if written authorization from the applicant is provided, but the child must still be present.
It is a very simple process if the Passport has not expired. Otherwise the process is slightly different and might involve providing couple of additional references and their verification of their bonafides. Slightly time consuming.
I have provided a lot of links. See if you find them useful. Otherwise you still have them in case you want to refer in the future.
Freddie.
