Hi Guys,
My previous passport was about to expire its 10-year validity so I applied for a new passport @ VFS Vancouver.
I got my old passport back with the new passport. But two things:
1) It has a validity of 1 year only??
2) My Canadian address is mentioned instead of my permanent address from previous passport.
Point 1 is really absurd! Now I'll have to go through the same ***** delay of 3 months where I'll be living without my passport in November 2011. On top of it, they will probably charge 65$ again.
Has anyone experienced this kind of situation? I'm a PR here in Canada btw.
Thanks,
Vishal
That is the way it is ..
1. If you want to have the India PP, you need to pay to your country every year till you become Canadian ....
2. Now your home is Canada ..... You passport will have that address only. Not your old address in India.
If you have lived in Canada for 3yrs by the time your next PP renewal, you may have to provide with confirmation letter for not applied for Canadian citizenship yet from Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (Probebly from Ottawa) which cost you may be $60-100 + (3-6 week waiting).

Meeting people is easy. Having meaningful connections is the hard part.
I wrote to embassy in Vancouver. They have given a logical sounding reply...
They sent request to RPO in India for confirming my particulars but they did not respond in time and hence they gave me passport for one year validity only. The guy also advised me to apply for renewal after two months and this time they would do it free plus the VFS charges...
I only hope that since its issued from Vancouver now, I get the renewed one back in 2 weeks instead of 3 months as happened in this case.
