Hello,
My kid was born in USA who is a US citizen( 6 year old).
I moved to canada and got my Canadian Citizenship. However, if i apply for my kid for canadian citizen ship, will the US citizenship get cancelled or does the dual citizenship applies to the Kid.
The kid currently is a Permanent Resident of Canada.
Need some advice on this.
Both USA and Canada support dual citizenship so your son may hold both citizenships at the same time.

How the US courts treat dual citizenship has changed over time. In the past, it was highly discouraged. Nowadays, practically the only ways to lose US citizenship are
1) Explicitly renounce citizenship in front of a US consular official
2) Have it revoked on the grounds of false information provided during the naturalization process
As your child was a citizen by birth, it will be basically impossible for him or her to lose US citizenship except for explicit renunciation. In fact, even if your child swears in another country to give up all foreign alleigance (you are required to do this if you wish to become naturalized as a Mexican citizen, for example), the US courts will not consider this as giving up American citizenship.
So, rest easy.
