I am new to this site. I just want to let everyone knows that Halifax, NS is pretty much racist place. I mean ppl are nice but when it comes to job they won't give you. I am trying to get the hell out of this place asap. I am stuck here just for summer and thats it.

I am planning to move to Toronto or Vancouver. Is there anyone who could help me out in finding an engineering job. Well I am interested in doing any job which pays me more than 40K. Canada's economy is so down that its hard to find a job these days. I have a Masters degree in Material engineering from Canadian University.

Thanks guru420....i appreciate that but do u know if going through employment agency would land me in a job..? because I don't have any experinence here in canada in engineering though I have some sales and customer service experience here in canada.

toronto will be ur best bet. think of a teaching career. when u say materials engineering i presume u r referring to metalurgy with m.e. background. look up in scotts directory for toronto, or hamilton (the home of the smelters and foundrys) available in every public library for the area u want to work in areas like casting, molding, steel processing, r & d, precision machinery manufacturing (mainly auto industry) and various other.

and when u make cold call, try to avoid HR. e.g. if u want to work as a plant manager try contacting VP ops or President not the HR dummy. present urself as working for some company as some big shot or u will never get to talk to the person u want to. always say that /he/she/they are "expecting" ur call.

this is the canadian govt. scam to settle new professional immigrants in the land of fish-heads where fishing and "seal" hunting is the only industry. u r lucky not to end up in newfie land and labrador.

while I am sure there are racist people everywhere, why do you feel that is the reason.

Using that logic, Canada must be real racist! because a lot of people all over Canada are not being given jobs!
