Ontarion PNP applicant applying for work permit

I applied for PR in May 2009 and due to a back ground check my decision is taking quite long. I am a Ontario provincial nominee and have been working for 2 years in Ontario however, my post graduate work permit expires in June 2011. I want to take proactive measures and determine if I will have to get HRSDC approval to extend a work permit even though i was nominated for immigration by Ontario ? I also have a letter with me from the Ontario PNP office stating that i should be given a work permit till a decision on my application is made but that letter is dated dec'08 (when i applied to become a provincial nominee).
Your help is much appreciated.

""If your work permit expires before you submit an application to extend it, you have 90 days from the expiration date to apply to restore your status. If you do not apply to restore your status within 90 days of the expiry of your work permit, you will be without status and have to leave Canada. ""

Since you have applied for PR status and waiting for a favourable response, please read through this section and then wait for them to tell you how to proceed.

At no time you should be without a status in Canada. So, keep on renewing your Visa till one day they will tell you that you are O.K. to get your Passport stamped.

At the most you might have to obtain another letter from your employer requesting for the renewal of your work permit. Do wait for it till about it is due. Which will be March of 2011. Mark it on your Calendar.

Who knows Santa comes around the end of December, you might get some good news in the new year. (2011)
