I booked our vacation through Tai Pan Tours for 2 family (6 adults + 3 kids).
They charged 23% of tax on total amount, before i paid Chainese lady told me that previous tax was 17% but now due to HST tax will be 23%.
I am wondering anyone have an idea this true or something wrong?
I know normally tax should be HST - 13 %, but still confused why she charged 23 % and she given me a invoice for 23% tax as well.
If anyone one have idea share your view please.
Thanks

Thanks Kalia for reply, that means they cheated me on tax by Tai pan tour or what? still confused.......
still i am not understanding how they charged more taxes officially with reciept and our receipt clearly indicates that charged 23 % tax (HST/GST)?
Even in their website shows Tour fare taxes 23%
http://www.taipan-group.com/Travel/US_Canada/US_CANDetail.aspx?Tour_Code=CAN03%20(WINTER)&id=17
may be i am understanding something wrong from myside regarding taxes..........!
It could be 10% mark-up and 13% HST.
This is a fact sheet for tour packages sold after May 1 but before July 2010 http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/gi/gi-071/gi-071-e.pdf

thanks Raj for valuble feedback and link..............after gone through this link most of clouds gone away from my head.....
Jet airways : Fare to India $650 and Taxes $700
Canadian Affair: London and Glasgow $99 and Taxes Mmmm Ink smudged
What you save on the air fare gets eaten away by the taxes. (Not the Government one, but the padding up of the tax and commission part of Travel agents. Guess where they are hiding now? (It is good to know a nice travel agent)
Freddie.
