I had used service amounting more than $500 on my master card. I had booked over phone providing my master card number and back panel number to the agent. I was waiting for the amount to be debited on my card but it did not show on my statement. Little investigation made me to realise that copy of invoice that I have has bill being charged to visa. It was agent's mistake to put visa instead of master card. It is over a month, I have not received call or mail from the seller.
Now that I am getting little greedy, should I call them back and tell them of the mistake. If I dont call them and ignore the issue, what are the consequence of it? Any suggestion fellows!!

1. First, it is not an adviseable way of charging any purchase / service over the telephone for the sake of security and future misuse - however urgent the matter maybe, however secure the agency maybe. ALL service providers have atleast 2 ways of payment and generally for INSTANT effect, they always have the Phone and the internet - while phone has a fairly huge risk, internet risk is comparatively low.
2. Being a service of over $500, the lapse is bound to be traced sooner than later and you will have more problems settling evrything then than now. The best would be to call up the service provider and clarify ASAP.
All the best.

I was wondering that did they get approval of payment from credit card company or not. How did they proceed without getting payment confirmation from credit card company.
I will contact my credit card company and confirm further.
Thank you for the suggestion.

Yep, very true.
Just curious.... certain sites require the three digit secrets number be entered.. How safe you guys feel about it. If you don't enter, your txn may not go...

I took service from govt. contractor. It was a safe deal providing all the information. It is a genuine mistake by the agent. My question is, being at no fault should I come out clear or just be simple greedy man!!

You should contact the govt. contractor to clear the mistake. How do you know they charge to Visa instead of Mastercard. It is impossible for merchant to charge to visa instead of mastercard. (Transaction can never go through Visa, if you have mastercard, as Visa & Master card nos. are different and most of these agents can tell which is no. is of master card or Visa). Probably agent/contractor must have charged to somebody else Visa account by mistake.
If you are calling (instead of other person calling you) and giving your credit card no., it is definately much more safe than using on net. Yes, it's always better to avoid giving last three digits on the backside of the card, but still sometimes, we have to give.
Always check your credit card bills every month and in case of any doubt, always call the credit card company.
