does anyone have any experience of caribbean vacation packages?
not cruises, but resort stays.
i'm looking to book something for early next year (jan - feb).
ideally, an all inclusive vacation package at a kids friend resort.
what websites to use, what to look out for, what type of options to select and what are typical price ranges?
thanks for any info
i was discussing about a vacation / cruise and my colleague had pointed out this to me. he has been there a couple of times and he recommended this to me. it is in the bahamas.

this is expensive, man. and it's not even all inclusive.
i think bahamas is much more expensive than the other caribbean resorts.
can anyone share personal experience?
I stayed in Atlantis (Corel tower was on deal) for 4-nights, excellent kid friendly place. Cost including flight / transfer excluding food would run any where close to 3000.

Just last week we came back from Dominican Republic vacation. It was a huge resort - Bahia Grand Principe at Rio San Juan.
The experience was really great and I would definitely recommend it. It is not at all expensive - around $900 per person, including excursion, taxi rentals, some shopping etc. The base cost was $780 per person all inclusive.
The resort staff was great, always smiling and listening to your issues. With our vegetarian diet when we requested additional vegetarian items they responded very positively.
We booked our resort through traveldiscounters.ca and go a deal better than posted on internet.

A Proud Indian Canadian
I recommend the Mayan Riviera area near Cancun, Mexico. Plenty of all-inclusive resorts and good service.
Have also been to Cuba (Holguin area) - again great time had there.
Winter is the best time to go (mainly because you'll appreciate the 25+ degree warmth when it is -25 here).
My suggestion is that you look at 4 or 4+ star resorts at a minimum. The hotel star rating system is different in the Caribbean, and are not comparable with the traditional 1 to 5 star system used here.
