It would be interesting to see when the Canadian govt. decides to draw a line and say no more.
Or will they allow this to continue....

Reminds me of the boatload flood of Haitians in the 90s to the US coast. Since the Haitians did not have the same legal "protection" as the cubans, they were all rounded up, taken to Gitmo (not the prison, just the island) to be processed and most likely got deported without seeing an inch of the US of A.

Now we might have a wave of big ships.

Hopefully, the govt. resources have enough brains and spine to weed out the terrorists, smugglers and the frauds.

Unfortunately Govt. resources are used by politicians for their benefit. No political party in Canada can dare to speak against refugees because they fear to lose vote banks. It is useless to expect strong actions by political party in such type of political systems.

Canada sort of brings things like these upon itself by this type of advertisement and propaganda:

http://www.680news.com/news/national/article/89961--canada-ranked-seventh-best-country-in-the-world-newsweek

Canada ranked seventh best country in the world: Newsweek
TORONTO, Ont. - Canada has ranked seventh in the world in Newsweek magazine's list of the 100 best countries on the planet.

Canada did well in terms of education, literacy, health and political stability...

If you consider the other 6 countries ahead of Canada on that list, none of them have an active immigration program.

I was listening to the radio reg this issue. Heavy discussion. It seems the ship started with around 250, picked up another 250 on the way. 16 desis are also there in that ship.

If each has paid $50k for that journey, that’s a big money. If they have that money in SL, they can as well stay put and do something. Better, move to India and blend in the with the janata in Chennai or Salem or Coimbatore.

I saw a headline that says Canadian Tamils are waiting to hear if their family members have arrived by that ship. Maybe further confirmation there are more fraud cases than genuine ones?????

I got to ask my MIL to catch the next ship...why bother sponsor her, eh?

http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Detention+reviews+Tamils+Wednesday/3413111/story.html

"In letters to the media on Monday, the Tamil migrants said they were fleeing mass murders, disappearances and extortion in Sri Lanka."

Yeah right! What were they doing when LTTE was fighting the SL govt? Mass murders and extortion were the trademark of LTTE.
There is flood situation in Pak and millions are affected. May be Canada can send planes and ships and bring couple of thousands of them here on humanitarian grounds.
