DMAT for NRIs

Today I went to my bank to open a DMAT a/c. It was refused as I am an NRI/Canadian citizen. I told them abt my OCI. I have a PAN card also. Still they wanted some sort of an RBI permission. I dont know if the staff knew abt the DMAT for NRIs. No one in the branch knew abt the issue reg DMAT for NRIs.
I am in a bind. Next two days are holidays. My bank is closed on Monday too. I am told that it takes 3-4 days to get a DMAT a/c number.

Any suggestion/advise/experience on DMAT?

what city are you in??

try with different bank, reliance money, india bulls, share khan, or any other different DMAT provider.

and let us know your experiences.

I went to one of the brokerge firms and got the DMAT a/c in two days. Nationalised banks are a headache.
