Please sort out your wife's situation first; when you move to Canada, she will have to remain in the US or you need get for her a visitor visa BEFORE you arrive at the border, or else, she will be refused entry!
Thanks all for your replies. I appreciate your guidance and words of wisdom. There is one more thing I have been thinking of - moving my car (and if possible, some other stuff)
Any advice on how to move my car ? I bought the car in Jan'07, but did not show it on the "Things to move list" when I landed in Oct '08. Now I wish to move the car when I settle down in Canada.
Is there a way I can convince the border officers that I am a new settler, so that I don't need to pay taxes/import duties on the vehicle ?
