Why your child will need visitor visa? American citizens do not need visa to travel canada. Child passport I think should be enough to enter or exit to canada.

I will also suggest Alberta less tax, immediate medical coverage for you and your wife and for your child can buy travel medical insurance.

I brought my daughter to toronto on indian passport and bought medical insurance for her. I did not face any tough question t immigration.

Canadian economy is doing ok so I dont think you will face any job problem it also depends on your skills, assuming you are in IT. Alberta is really good if you have SAP experience. Might be salary is not that great like USA but it will be not be bad either. You will have peace of mind which is also important with small baby.


At the immigration just keep latest bank statement or tax papers handy to show you can support your family in canada, C$10k should be enough.

san_sai - Yep, am in IT with 10 years of experience hence assuming that finding a Job will not be that hard comparatively.

vipeen - I already did my landing in June 2009 hence not sure whether I am supposed to inform any changes in the family to the consulate. I agree that it will take around 3 months for the processing in India however wondering how it will work out for my wife to travel alone (no. of hours in the flight) with a 2 month old baby to India as I cannot stay in US beyond October 2011 hence the initial thought to move to canada with the family and new born.
