sign the petition on
STOP THE METER . CA

The CRTC just decided to let your Internet Service Provider put a meter on your Internet!

Bell Canada and other big telecom companies can now freely impose usage-based billing on independent Internet Service Providers (indie ISPs) and YOU. Big Telecom companies are obviously trying to gouge consumers, control the Internet market, and ensure that consumers continue to subscribe to their television services.

This means we're looking at a future where ISPs will charge per byte, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay more for less Internet.

This will crush innovative services, Canada's digital competitiveness, and your wallet.

We need to stand up for the Internet.

Why?
I am paying an exhobirant sum of money for using very less internet (fixed). I do not down load movies, use VPN etc.. So why should I pay $ 52+ HST for my internet from Bell?
Metering is the way to go in the future. You pay for what you want.

Peace and Love

Effective Feb 2011, Primus will charge me extra for any use over 25GB per month. I am paying $36 plus tax right now and have never used more than 25 GB in the past 7 years I have been with Primus. So, to me it makes no difference as I am satisfied with the service.

Per Primus, my Nov 2010 usage was 15 GB, mostly due to heavy downloading.

I have the Home phone + internet from Primus. Went crazy negotiating with them. Finally they gave me an additional 40 Gb for free.

Acanac offers DSL for $25/month on a 12 month contract and it is unlimited. No GB limits.

Am paying $73 for home phone and internet lite(15 gb i think) package from Rogers .

Would like to switch to something more reasonable.

Acanac and Primus seem good alternatives
