Thanks for the LINKS and info. I didnot understand this part though.....which provider are you talking about?

Here is a link on KIJIJI, Looks like a switch and bait, but it is still worth it. The MODEM will be free for you after 16 months and your rate drops down by five bucks.
Also, have you or anyone bought modem from this kijiji guy? I spoke to START and they said they sometimes get calls that people buy modems from sites like kijiji and ebay and it turns out to be stolen modem so they cannot activate it.
Any thoughts on that?

In these days of hard times, if you can get five bucks and TEKSAVVY does not want to match, then, they know that they have lost ONE GOOD NEW Customer. For them it will be cream on the top. For START it is a great start.
So, take it if it is available. Also these macines are good and reliable, won't fail you in a hurry. Go for a shortcut.
Iwill give you another link shortly with pros and cons also. get to know better before buying a service....

The first link is also very helpful ... I did not know that I could possibly cancel my service / have the prices retained in case the provider increases the price of service ..Thanks ..

When they sold them for 30 bucks, it was worth it.
When they sold it for 50, I would have taken a chance.
At 75 bucks, ask START for their own 100 buck MODEM. Also give them the business and at the end of 20 months, your subscription rate drops by FIVE bucks.
My point is to look at it for the long run. Also, they should stand behind their product.

Cool Girl ,
Your position and requirement is different from mine .
My usage is very less .. 20GBs per month against yours 120GB.
You need 25mbps whereas for me 6-7 mbps will suffice.
You already have cable .I have DSL .. the $50 benefit does not apply to me .
For 6-7 mbps plans Teksavvy is better priced or may be a $ difference.
Teksavvy's plan are better layered from an upgrade perspective for eg if I wish to go from DSL 6-7 mbps to 15 mbps , the option and the pricing is there.
I already have a DSL modem.
I m still undecided whether to go with cable in which case Teksavvy offers a better price entry plan which meets my needs.
For your requirement Start is a better option.
Lastly , whenever I speak with Teksavvy folks or watch their advertising , I wish to be with them as they are amongst the first and biggest to take on the big players by offering better prices and plans ..Much the same reason I am with Wind.... I think these smaller companies should be supported as they are allowing better competition and consumerism.
BTW ... how do you consume 120GB ... is it like streaming videos and TV channels - if yes , please advise what streaming facility you use - may be I can also try that .....

I thought I should share the outcome of all this exercise.
I called Rogers one more time before placing order with START to see if they can extent the same offer....but I was refused. Later in the day, I received a card by Rogers (Executive Vice President & Chief Mktg Officer) to call @ 1-877-232-3027 to talk about potential solutions. I called and the lady offered me 50% discount (same offer as before) right away. I figured it was a 3rd party on behalf of Rogers.
I am happy as I am paying lesser, higher speed and no hassle of modem and router.
If anyone is in same boat you can call the number given above after you give cancellation notice to Rogers and hopefully it would work for you too.
