As I am pretty early in the CEC application ( I am just about to get AOR) I think Its better to get court marriage done and Add my spouse to my application.
Here are the things I will need to redo/provide to CIC Buffalo :
1) Updated http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm...
2) New http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm... from my spouse
3) new http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/I... form from my spouse
4) 4 Pics of my spouse
5) Copy of Birth certificate of my spouse
6) Copy of Marriage certificate for the Court Marriage
7) Passport photocopies of my spouse
8) Original Copy of Police Certificate of my spouse
9) Additional Fee (draft in the name of Canadian Consulate Genereal ) 550$ for adding my spouse
10) Updated Document Checklist (with all the above mentioned documents checked marked)
Mail the package to Buffalo. I will add a cover letter , explaining that I got married, and hence would like to add my spouse.
Question 1) DId I miss anything? Do I need to resend my documents ( work permit, VISA copy, work expe docs, T4 slips etc. etc..) again ? I think no. But I would like to dbouble check.
Question 2) My spouse lives in India, as such what would be the next steps once I add my spouse to my PR application? I am guessing, once my spouse is correctly added, and I get a positive response in Initial Assesment , they would ask for our medicals? She will send from India to Ottawa and I will send them from within Canada..? Correct?
Hope the information above is useful to other members as well.
Thanks,
