Dear CD's,
I am planning to change my laptop and hence finialised three laptops from Kijiji (KW area). I am not that good at computer configuartion and hardware knowledge.
These are the details of the three deals :

1.) I have a vision book for sell as I have no need for it. It's only a few months old and has been used maybe 6 times!! It works great, I bought it from MDG in Kitchener.
15.4" Screen , Intel Core 2 Duo Processor , Windows Vista Premium
160GB hard drive , 4 USB 2.0 ports , 9 Cell Supercharge Battery
MS Works Suite 2006 , McAfee Antivirus
The Laptop was new not refurbished when I bought it, I'm still not sure of the year of original make but I will look tomorrow, I can't look tonight cause it's in my parents room and they are in bed. It does have a DVD that can burn, I never used it but I know it can. And YES it is wireless enabled!! If you have any more questions feel free to email me back. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Price last offered : C$ 450. Price I amnegotiating for C$ 350

2.) Acer Aspire 1692 lightly used laptop with Windows Vista Business Edition and Microsoft Office 2007 included with full valid software licenses
Intel Centrino 1.73GHz, 15.4 inch Widescreen
1GB RAM, 80 GB HDD
16X Dvd-rw drive, Wireless a/b/g
Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
It is 4 months old, it is intel centrino (better than pentium 4) with wireless capabilities a,b, g. Yes it has a 16 x dvd burner to write dvd or cd. Gigabit ethernet means if you use the regular ethernet port instead of wireless u will get 1000mb/s transfer rate instead of normal 100mb/s of standard ethernet ports.

Price last offered : C$ 400. Price I am negotiating for C$ 350

3) HP DV2412CA Laptop for sale
1GB DDR Ram, 150 GB Hard Drive
Windows Vista Home, 2007 Microsoft Office
4 Months HP warranty remaining , Will transfer 2yr. Futureshop warranty
Well taken care of and student ready!
The lap top is Intel core Duo 2, Wireless N, Light scribe DVD/CD burner, 150 GB hard drive, built in web-cam. Has 4 months HP warranty left and I will transfer the Future shop warranty worth $350. As you can see I would be giving it away for $350. Sorry wish I could lower my rice but as I am sure you can relate I am a student and It wouldn't be worth me selling it for that little.

Price last offered : C$ 600. Price I am negotiating for C$ 350

*********************************************************
Which one should I go for and what is the price that I can go maximum.?
If these are not good offers, does any one else know how to get better deals in second hand laptops. My max. budget is $500. My main use will be to use AutoCad (2D now and possibly 3D in the future) and high speed browsing.
Appricate your answers.

Peace out

I bought a brand new Dell laptop (Vostro 1400) for $430 from dell.ca.
As the brand new one is close to the second hand one, I prefer the former.

You will get warranty, brand new parts etc.., etc.,

check redflagdeals.ca for details., you keep getting deals there.

Wow! Thanks
Looks like the newer one is better and a lot worth while.
Is the $430 with the tax or is tax extra?

Peace out

With tax and $0 shipping, it came about $490. Still not beyond $500 mark.

As a rule by and large in electronics - new products are cheaper than old . Since technology progresses new features are available and with the turnover and inventory issues , prices come down .

I learnt from a salesman that they generally get a new laptop model in quantities of 20-30 pieces fresh . After 3-4 months , they promote the remaining units making way for a new model .

Keep a tab on Staples / Futureshop & Bestbuy and you will get your pick after not so long . When I was searching I found Compaq to be a good choice though I bought an Acer .

Guys,
The previous deals did not come through.
After some research, I found out that USA has the best deals. Especially the DELL open box is really good. I did not the Canadian Open box deals as the prices seemed to be high (+ the 13% GST/PST) and it did not have that many choices. The problem with DELL open box is that they have no outlet store where you can pick up the laptop + they donot ship to Canada and even if they did I prefer to pay the taxes in USA than in Canada (for the low rate). Tiger direct from USA is another option. However, they donot ship to Canada from USA.
I have decided to buy the laptop from USA (New).
Does any one know where were can get good and cheap laptops in Buffalo, Detroit or Niagra falls?
I am also trying the red flag.ca website.
Comments appriciated.
PEace out
