Hi Folks!
Thank you very much for all the suggestions. And pratickm, yeah you are right. I get 1 year warranty by the toshiba. And say if i buy extended warranty for 3 years than this warranty overwrite the company warranty. So i don't get 4 years coverage, it just 3 years. Though might be I think I'll not go for it.
I was just wondering about extended warranty as many ppl say that the screen of the notebook screwed up very fast and it's cost at least 1K to repait it. How far is it true?
Also what you guys think, is it worth paying 2K for toshiba notebook?Some background --> P4, 40 GB, 512 RAM, 3.06Gz, CD and DVD combo, wireless.

From all my past experiences, EXTENDED WARRANTIES ARE RIP OFFS!!!
I have stopped buying them...
Doesnt matter if its a laptop or a TV or a appliance or a camera.
If there is a manufacturing defect, That defect will show up before the manufactureres warranty expires.
And if ur PRECIOUS works fine for that warranty period, ODDS are that it will work fine till it gets outdated 
BTW, If u dont mind refurbished computers, Dell financial services usually provide very decent deals....

Keep in mind , that most salesagents in large electronic stores earn good commissions on selling extended warranties. So dont get dragged into buying expensive eatended warranties, unless you really need it.

Frankly, i dont think it is worth it if you are buying for normal home use. for brandnew laptops i saw dell and ibm ads in newpapers in below $1200 range for new notebooks.
Used laptops can be a great geal as well if you buy from a reliable source, with limited warranty.
