unemployment in USA : approx. 9.5% (on record, unrecorded in much much higher).
% of population on food banks = 15%
Unemployment in Italy and Spain > 20% each
Unemployment in the UK > 10%
we can talk further if you like, but for now i will leave you with this one other piece of data:
in today's report (if you care to actually read the original StatsCan data), it shows that out of all the jobs lost, over 90% was in Ontario and in the manufacturing sector.
most other sectors, including energy, GAINED jobs.
It was exactly a month ago that the shameless Mcguinty stood in front of national TV during the debate and claimed how Ontario is creating a lot of jobs.
now this report is for that month - October.
which means, while Mcguinty was lying and deceiving the people (as he always does), the ontario economy was losing over 50,000 jobs at that very moment.
why is ontario losing so many jobs, mostly manufacturing?
because of the corrupt liberal regime that is in bed with the unions and has kept costs high for the businesses.
this makes our products uncompetitive and makes our businsesses lose money.
when companies lose money, guess what they do? yep, lay off people.
1. this unemployment data is almost entirely Ontario related
2. the problems in Ontario are a direct result of bad economic policies of the govt' and its collusion with the unions and public sector wastage

on what basis, may I ask?
on the one hand you promptly quote data that Canada's unemployment increased slightly (from 7.3% to 7.5%) and on the other hand you want the govt. to increase immigration?
what's the logic behind that?

when most of the world's GDP is shrinking, ours is growing.
when most of the world's unemployment is over 10% (and in some cases over 20%), ours is 7.3%.
comparison is always among economies of a similar nature.
that is why we have G8, G20, OECD, ASEAN etc. and comparisons are within each group.
