Dear CDs,

My friend has to send me a package from Canada and Fedex is quoting around $150.00. I read abt DTDC on CD. Saw their rates on the website. Real cheap, as I need to think in terms of rupees. How is the service? Is the service equal to Fedex?

I had sent the package with them and very happy with it. Delivered as fast as Fedex or UP or Purolator...but charged less than half. For express service they use DHL. Also I had received quite a few packages from India from them for reasonable rate.

DTDC's reviews have been positive on CD. I have not used them but have used First Flight http://www.firstflight.net/contactus.asp

Letter reaches India within a week or a bit more depending on location. All letters reach Delhi and then gets distributed. They also give discounted rates for Fedex and DHL if you want. DHL reaches at least one day earlier as compared to sending by First Flight and has better tracking information on their website. If your friend can drop off the package at their office in Mississauga, it will save 1-2 days as compared to pickup. I send from Kitchener, so it takes me 1-2 days extra because of pickup.

They use DHL for international courier (not only express). I used them for economy service...reached metropolitan city in 3 day.

I used cheap canada post recently to send packet to Delhi, time taken was same 5 business days as courier service offers (though CP do not commit to deliver that fast) . Cost was only 17$s with acknowledgement.
I would suggest in case the packet is going to metro city (Delhi in particular) use canada post else for other cities DTDC is more reliable and trackable and bit cheaper than other courier services.

I have extremely bad experience with DTDC but it was within India only. There customer service is horrible and tracking system very poor. I have no experience sending packages from Canada to India.

I have very good experience.
Fedex was $ 100 but they were $ 20. It reaches a day after FEDEX. Tracking takes a day or 2 to be input into the system.
