I was about to pen a detailed reply regarding my raise but then I will heed SS's advice and not deviate from the original context.

The rates mentioned is very good and I lost heavily on cellphone rates during my stay in Canada. Hope I can get some suitable compensation from the cdn. govt. for this in the near future. However no one can beat Indian rates. Mostly I use my cellphone like crazy and my bill is around Rs. 700. My company pays RS. 300 and I pay the remaining Rs. 400. ($8)

Peace

You had a cellphone plan from Canadian government? If not, why is government going to compensate you?

You cannot get Indian rates in Canada be it cellphones or countless other things like bus fares, cable tv, etc.

True.
The problem with majority Civil engineers is that they are dumb (Majority opts for Civil engineers as they donot get admission in any other branch and they want to be in engineering) but the P.Eng. for Civil engineers is not that tough.
The cleverest civil engineers have moved to software (Desi back ground).
Some Civil engineers-Desi only- (P.Eng) work in other engineering disciplines such as aluminum glazing, roofs, waterproffing etc.. and get paid $ 45,000 to $ 60,000 a year.
Desi P.Eng (Civil) will not get any construction supervision jobs in Canada as that field is saturated.
It is possible that some Civil P. ENg. (Desi only) may get $ 100000+ but that will be an exception.
Also in Canada, Desi people lie a lot for their prestige. We need to dig further down.
Peace
