Hi
I am in Ottawa, Canada on work permit.
I have indian passport and wish to meet my sister in US.
Can anybody guide me for getting visa for US ?
How much time will be taken by the US embassy for the same?
As I have limited days of vacation so need to know, how many days before, I should apply for that?

Book an online appointment using consultate website.
Fill in the application , paste photo , leave the electronics including your fancy phone at home and go stand in line, a token and few calls later you will be standing at window, scanning your thumbs and answering your status in Canada etc. the visa decision will be made same day. At some consulates visa pasted same day and pp is returned, some may post back.
You need not wait for the vacation days to come near by, just write date of visit. officer will decide accordingly.
One more thing, taken enough change in pocket in case they reject your photo, there is self help photo machine which only takes coins.
