It will state a date on the Passport. That is the date prior to which, the person has to land at a port of entry. Preferably Months before. All of this is due to the rush and the seasonal availabilities of tickets from the country.

Anyone who lands in Canada, generally gets to stay for a period of SIX months, from the date of landing. AND it is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer at the POE.

Normally they will state a date under the stamp, by which the visitor has to leave. But everyone is permitted to ask for an extension of stay. See the rules for extension.
