Hi all, my parents are just arived here in Toronto on a "2 year multiple entry vistor visa" (at least thats what is stated on the the actuall visa. However, beside the landing stamp in the passport, there is a date hand written in, for Jan 2005. What does that mean. Does that mean they have to leave by that date and then can come back within the 2 year visitor visa limit. Or are they saying that the return dates on their tickets are only valid till then.

This doesn't make sense.....

They have to leave Canada on or before that date. Normally for a single stay visitors can stay upto six months.

I understand, that if it were a single entry 6 month visa, that would be true.

However, they have a multiple entry 2 year visa. Why would they have to leave in 6 months?

dosnt make a difference.. officer at the port of entry has descretion to state how long a person may stay... usually, they tie in that date to when the return flight is... since their ticket specifies they will return in Jan, thats how much time the officer said they can remain in canada... single/multiple entry visa's have nothing to do with it... multiple entry visa just means they can come back to canada without having to apply for a new visa within its validity... duration of each visit is still decided by officer at a port of entry...

because the maximum time allowed for a visitor is 6 months during each visit unless you apply for an extension from cic... extensions are usually also given for 6 months...
