Dear Mr. Massood,
I have recd visa today which is valid till 11/10/2004 though the medical results are valid till May 2004. This is because my daughters passport is valid till 11/10/2004. You may recall my earlier mail regarding this issue.
While sending the passports to Delhi office, we had thought that once we get visa, we will get a new passport for my daughter and travel to Canada with the old and the new passport.
The letter from CHC Delhi Says that visa can not be extended. IS there any way we can extend the visa by personally visiting Delhi office?

Hi anujark,
I had a similar situation. My passport was expiring within 7 months of my medicals. When they requested my passport for visa stamping they asked me whether i wanted the visas to be issued on the expiring passport and in doing so the visas will expire along with the passport.
I requested them not to issue the visa while i applied for the new passport. Got a renewed passport thru tatkal and got visa valid till my medical.
By sending ur 'soon to expire' passport u agreed to the fact that ur visas will be valid till the validity of ur passport.

I'm not sure of ur options but maybe massoodji can comment on it.

ciao.

Dear Anujark,

Sorry to add this in between your valid concern.

Can you give us the exact time line, I mean in mumber of days it took from the date of medicals to get the VISA?

Regards,

VJ

Anu:

You can always try and see what the embassy says but if they want to take the strict route, the visas cannot be extended.

Dear Mr. Massood,
we have decided to land in Canada between 5th to 8th October. My husband who is the principal applicant will return after collecting the PR card to finalise the affairs in India. My daughter's passport will expire on 11th Oct 04. Do we have to get a new passport for her from India itself? or we have to renew it after landing in Canada. If we do it in Canada, she will be without passport for few days after 11/10/04
Pl advise

Ask your passport agent or the passport office. If it is possible, better to renew it before you come. I guess it would be possible.

Thanks & rgds.

...But renewing the passport will invalidate the old passport along with the canadian visa on it. (chk with ur agent)
I feel you should use the visa first and then apply for passport renewal at the indian embassy in canada. Also check with ur travel agent if the indian immigration officials will allow this passport holder to exit india with a passport which is nearing expiry. If this is the case then u might think of landing in canada a bit earlier.
