It is time to change the title of this thread and remove the name of Rahul as he is not in a position to give a fight to Modi - he is already slipped to third position. Even Congress has accepted it and not naming him as a PM candidate. Seems like BJP is more interested in projecting Rahul as Congress candidate. A weak candidate will increase Modi's possibilities - A good strategy.

The alliance formations as of now looks that BJP is heading for another Delhi type debacle.

Unless BJP thinks out of the box and come out with something drastic, Modi like Harshvardhan may have to eat the humble pie. That will be a far greater tragedy not only for the BJP, but also for the good future for the entire nation.

Looks like a Third Front which will only lead to more chaos, confusion and ultimately regression for the nation is in the offing. It will be Kichdi of parties which have only regional presence like the NCP, AIADMK, TDP, Left, SP, BSP, RJD,JD(U), JD(S) etc. Even Didi's TMC, although they fight the Left in WB, may join for the sake of "secularism" and "for saving the nation", provided they get plum posts.

Just like getting 31 out of 70 seats in Delhi, there is a possibility BJP may end with about 250 seats, Congress around 75 and the 3rd Front 200. Congress may offer to support the TF from outside, just to keep the BJP at bay. TF will then get majority of 275 like AAP in Delhi.

As of now, BJP is happy to be the B Team of the Congress as far satisfying Corporate concerns are concerned. It does not take up the common people's causes but thinks they can ride to power on the anti-incumbency wave. BJP thinks that people will come to their doorstep and have nobody else. This complacency had cost them dearly in Delhi. But they have not learnt their lessons and there may be a repeat at the national level.

I think Rahul is out of the race, he/his party would settle with 1/5th of the total seats possibly due to some of the locally influential leaders, so do the 189/190 for the BJP Basically, it leads to how easily Modi would be able to ascend to the throne.
The AAP lacks leadership other than AK, nevertheless people will vote for his party expressing their frustration on the regular ones.
The chances are that the polls will lead to very messy results, Im afraid the usual cons will use all their muscles to raise up and loot again...

Why the BJP team has to be so inaccurate in in dumping Advani, who could have otherwise posted a solid lead despite the evolution of AAP and Rahul would've been cornered out from Day #1.

The silent revolution by AAP seem to be on though (despite the smear campaign from media)..

I see this way, BJP would make it easy or tough, leaning towards the second...

Do we remember how Conservatives won the Majority in Canada? I believe people hate hung parlaments and so majority of the people might go for a decisive victory for the front runner.

Having said so, India is quite complex to predict and the regional players are going to play a key role. Fortunately many of the regional parties barring Mamta, Biju and Jaylalita are on the declining popularity, so chances of other parties winning more seats are not that much.

Also based on the poll of polls - both BJP and Congress are going to get 300 to 320 seats. It means the other parties will get 223-243 seats. The BJP and Congress allies will get another 30-40 seats, of which we can count NCP and National Conference as parties those can go with anyone including third-front. Shiv-sena and Akali will not most likely go with third-front, so the third front parties count will be reduced to 203 to 223 seats.

Now they have subtractions within themselves. In any combination TMC and Left will not be together. AIADMK and DMK will not be together. SP and BSP will not be together. Lalu and Nitish will not be together. Given all the combinations the viable third front might have 153 to 173 seats.

As Congress can do anything to keep BJP out of Power they can extend their support to the third front. But even after that the third-front will have support of 253 to 273. they will have very hard time crossing the 272 mark.

It is sill a possibility.

By any means the Congress will again be in the power!

And within one year the government will collapse and we will be writing who will win the election one more time!

Meanwhile Gujarat can continue its development path!!

More than Modi coming to power, what will be closely observed will be how he is going to meet the challeges of the various scams, that may continue to affect his government.

A recent scam in Orissa is about loss of more than 59,000 crores to the government, due to cheating in export of iron ore during the last 10 years alone. The 59,000 crores would have made sea change to the lives of people of Orissa, if alone it had been properly utilised like better roads, better public transport, health care etc.

Recently, when the RBI Governor decided to withdraw old currency notes to check conterfeit notes, he had to hastily clarify that the action "was not against black money".

What was wrong if there were really actions against black money? Will the RBI Governor be committing a crime if he acts against black money. The black money lords through the media will call names of the RBI Governor as "Vigilante Governor, Moral Policing Governor" etc.

Modi should not end up tolerating and compromising with such anti-natinal and anti-social elements. Otherwise, he may also become another MMS.
