One good thing cannot make up for all endless evil . I see his movements as politically motivated rather for well being of India (ns ) .. All they wanted to be in power and show it off simultaneously ..
May be too much of hatred in me has overshadowed some good deeds he may have done . What he did in South Africa has never been my concern ..That is how mean of a person I am

1. Suppresing Bhagat Singh sacrifices , Indias division and worst of all was to allow Muslims stay back totally kills and takes away all the credit he may have been entitled for .

Note that I am not anti muslim . I am anti policy which has made India restless country and we all evident that in every days life .

On side light note: In India people using one sentance about Gandhi is

"Gandhi Bakri (Goat) ka Doodh pite they isi liye last me uska Dimag Pagla gaya tha, agar Gandhi ne Gaay (Cow) ka doodh piya hota to India ko aaj ye din nahi dekhne padte"

P.S. : For all Gandhi lovers - i am not against Gandhi neither favoring him too....:-)

I have to disagree on this one and have a hard time getting over the irony of your statement. It is a well documented fact that both of the two great leaders you mention above quote Gandhi as a major influence on their lives and eventual movements they led.

Gandhi was human, not God. And no doubt, he made some mistakes, the most prominent of all letting Nehru be the PM when Patel was clearly the best choice.

But most people agree he was one of the greatest leaders who lived. Mandela and Martin Luther King included, who quoted him as their inspiration and followed his lead.

Mahatma Gandhi. "M" in his name
Martin Luther King. "M" in his name
Nelson Mandela "M" in his name too

I think we all are blesed to have known or seen all three of them in our own life time. What a lovable person each one was, in his own way and promoted peace for their comunity and for the whole nation in their life time.

He has gone home. May his soul rest in peace.

FH.

Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King did not face the situation like Noakhli or division of one of the biggest country in the history. So we don't know what they would have done in that situation.
