Extreme windchill and cold weather.....today it shows -39 with windchill and in USA ‘Polar vortex’ pushes dangerous cold into U.S. Midwest; Indianapolis makes driving illegal....

Weather network alerts says:

Extreme wind chills from minus 30 to minus 40 today and tonight. Frigid and strong westerly winds are producing widespread dangerous wind chills of minus 30 to minus 40 today and tonight.

Extreme caution is advised for people heading outdoors. Exposed skin may freeze in less than 5 minutes. Moreover, it is also suggested to help prevent freezing of pipes in buildings, one could turn on the lowest tap in the house and let it run as a pencil-thin stream or fast drip while keeping indoor temperatures a little warmer at night. Wind chills will improve slowly on Wednesday as temperatures rise slowly and winds finally begin to ease.

is anyone in past feels same weather like now? i am here in last 8 years and never feels this kind of weather continues every week from December.

i have been here 10 years and haven't seen this bone chilling cold so far...infact it was so warm last time that there was no snow till Dec 31 and just couple of snow storms. I wonder what happened to the organizations who were shouting on Global Warming...lol

I live in Fort Mcmurray . -30... -40 temperature is common here but less windchill and no snow strom. Compare to last year its more cold here as since 15th november temperature remains below -30 ( low ) consistantly . Normally we wear 3 to 5 layers when we go outside . Winter is terrible here from october to may.

We were spoiled by mild weather during last 3-4 years...This the real Canadian winter, embrace it while it lasts! City and highway resources are doing fantastci job, kudos to them!

We were out of town for a couple of days, and we returned to find our driveway with more than 30 cm of snow plus iced up gunk along the edge of the driveway where the plough had pushed everything up.

We had fun building a snow man and such, although my jaw stopped working after about 30 minutes outside

Sometime in the early 90s, I believe we've had this cold, but not in my more recent memory. It is cold !!

Take care all of your in the East.

Here in the West (Vancouver), so far so good. We have 4 degrees today, but rainy and cloudy.

You guys are right. I haven't seen this extreme weather in back East for the past 8 years. This year appears to be an exception. However, this is (Cold) the basic nature of the Eastern Provinces (or Canada as a whole, sans Vancouver and Victoria).

I am sure most of you might be working from home. Stay warm!
