This is a new rule under Bill-C24 for new immigrants that they have to stay for at least 4 yrs in the last 6 yrs to be able to apply for citizenship. The previous rule was to stay at least 3 yrs in the last 5 yrs.

A fairly common practice has been (or still is) is for the income earner to continue the career in the middle east while the remainder of the family lives in Canada. And yet, the income earner claims physical residency in Canada and applies for citizenship. This new bill, I believe is intended to be a deterrent for such individuals.

Delhite ongoing is 3 in 5, are you sure... Not 3 out of 4 ! Any idea about immigrants landed upto which date could face the new law. Like I landed in Nov 2013, looks like I will also have to face the new law, is that right !
