The Syrian refugees are costing Canada lot of money with the handouts given to them in billions.
There is only this much tax payer money to go around.
I think it will make it hard for Indian immigrants to get welfare now. The rules will be strict now.
Cash jobs will also be hard to find now . I don't know, how Indian families will survive now.
I personally know lot of Indians, who are on welfare, they are very afraid now, I hope their welfare is not changed, due to the Syrian refugees.
If any newly arrived Indian immigrant has come, I would advise you to apply for welfare ASAP for yourself and your family, before they make it too strict. Also apply for subsidised housing, there will be a wait list, but sooner or later you will get it. Also get cash jobs, so no tax will be payable.

There are lot of job finding clubs and learn to speak English classes started by Government with tax payers money. You won't get a good job through them, but its not a bad place to go to, if you are bored and want some time pass.
I would advise desi immigrants to enrol there, even if your English is good. You will also meet lot of Chinese and Russians over there, good way to make non Indian friends.
The main advantage is you get Free Public transit tickets to go back and forth ! You can collect those tickets for a week, but only go there 1-2 days a week. You can pocket the difference.
Sometimes snacks are also provided.
