Hi Everyone,
I just graduated from a 2 year program and hold a 3 yrs Post Grad Open Work Permit (PGWP). I have been in a long distance relationship since Sept 2013 and have just been able to visit her in August 2014 for a month during my summer break. I recently got a job and want to get her here asap.
Read a couple of posts and am quite unsure on how to proceed. Though I plan to fly back and get her here on visitors post applying for spousal dependent in November I wish to start sometime soon for gathering the documents. We have our chats, video calls, phone calls, a 179 pages book I have written for her etc etc as a proof.
My question is : How soon can I get her here and is it possible to get her here on Toursit and apply for her dependent? Chances of rejection? we have had enough of long dist and plan to start our life here.
Can any of you help me out to decide so we can start working towards it?
If both are married ..
Spouse can get a work permit if other husband or wife doing a skilled job ( NOC O, A, B) in Canada
The main documents required:
1. Application for work permit
2. Her Family Info
3. Passport
4. Photos
5. Marriage Certificate
Documents from Spouse in Canada
6. Passport Copy
7. Work Permit
8. Proof of employment
9. Paystub
may be couple of more docs..like medicals ( usually we recomend)
Spouse can also apply for visit visa ..
All the above documents are required ... in addition
1. Letter of Invitation/Affidavit from Canada
2. Menas of Finance
If both are not married:
Spouse can try for a study permit or visit visa to come to canada.
Most of the information is available in the CIC website. If you have lots of patience, you can get. If not, take someone's Professional service.
Hi Gurram,
thank you for your response.
I am going back home to get married in November 2016. So there is no way we would have the marriage documents (certificate) ready for her application. Also since i just started working, i can afford to go back home for not more than 15 days.
The only option I have is get her here on visitor/travel visa with me. As soon as we land, we would get married in City Hall and register our marriage.
Once registered I plan to apply for her dependent. Is there any chance that this might fail??
Any other suggestion?
The problem is, once you tell that she is your finance in the visitor visa application form (there is a clause in that form that asks you to fill it), the person will get rejected. You will need to apply again and again and there might be no end to it. It may make you very frustrated.
I have heard stories of such finace's coming on SOTC tours to Alaska and Canada and then end up staying back and marrying their lovers and then getting naturalized but that was when the other person was a permanent resident. Please talk with a lawyer about this. We donot want both of you getting deported. In the case of PR's, there is no deportation.
What kind of person is your fiance'? Is she rich, educated and has a lot of property? in that case she has a better chance of getting a Visitor's visa rather than the one who is not.

she is not rich per say, but is Masters in Mass Media, worked as content writer for various companies like Conde Nast, BBC to name a few. In totality she has 1 yr 10 months of exp.
Started freelancing April 2015 and has 3 clients (eureka Forbes one of them). I know we dont want to be deported. But after a lot of research, if I am still on PGWP and have a full time job in NOC B, then once married in November 2016, I can come back alone and apply for her outland SOWP which might take 2-3 months of processing...
last but safest, easiest, surest but expensive option would be getting her here on any 1 yr Post Sec Diploma course... while she gets her 1 yr PGWP post the course m assuming my PR should be processed by then....and I can file for her dependent !!!
As per your saying, I donot think that the visa officer will be convinced.
If you have no other option, then file a visitor's visa and see.
Hope you are aware that once an application is filed, it will be seen at all times by a processing officer. Make your own conclusions.
