So let me ask you, if they were living with you or you were living in India would you have been able to write-off day-to-day expenses in your taxes? I don't think so. So it's the same logic whether they live with you and you support them or they live away and you support them. You still pay for your living expenses and it's got nothing to do with your tax returns.
