I was sponsored by my wife and landed in Canada in August 1993. We had to leave for Malaysia in December, 1995 to take care of our aging parents. My wife returned to Canada a month later and applied for her citizenship, after which she came back to Malaysia in August 1996. Both our children were born in Surrey, Canada in 1994 and 1995.
This year in February we returned to Canada after being in Malaysia for the past 71/2 years. I am still PR of Canada but the question is will I encounter any difficulties in obtaining my PR Card.
Please carify to me of the option 1 of the PR Card application which states that a family member can be out of the country and need not fulfill
the required 2 out of 5 years stay in Canada if he/she has accompanied a family member who is a Canadian citizen.
You need to have been in Canada for 2 yrs in the past 5. If you don't have sufficient number of days of physical presence in Canada, your time spent outside Canada with a Canadian spouse is sufficient.
It seems you are ok. Just do the calculation now. good luck!
