Dear Sir,
I became a landed immigrant in June and returned to india to get married in July. I am returning to Canada in August and need to sponsor my wife. I am returning as a student hence have no source of income but I can show bank funds to the tune of $30,000. I hope I am eligible to sponsor despite:
1) having no income source
2) being in canada for only a week as a PR and then sponsoring my wife (hope there is no minimum period)
Regards,
You can sponsor right away. You have to be in Canada. IMmigration may ask you proof of 'living' in Canada.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I feel much better now. I have another issue. I am going to spend my first 20 months in Canada as a student doing my MBA hence I have no source of income i.e. a job. However, I can show around Cn$30,000 in my bank account in Canada. Would that suffice?
Regards,
no ned to show income to sponsor spouse

I am carrying my wife's PR papers from India and mailing them from Canada (once I reach). I had a court marriage- hope that suffices. However, we had an engagement and reception. Also, pls confirm one thing. When I went for my interview for PR in February, I had declared that I was single but had been engaged. Hope that is fine? Also, they have asked for income proof for past 12 months. Can I show my salary slips from India?
Warm Regards,
you can show Indian income, but you don't really have to. If you don't have any income in canada, just tell them it's zero.
At your interview, you were single. You did not lie.

Dear Sir,
Thanks for your replies
When I became a PR in June I had an Ottawa address. However, now I am in London to study and am using this address to sponsor my wife. Hope that would not lead to any confusion.
How soon can my wife get her PR from New Delhi?
Regards,
