I have a question related to functionality wireless router.
Currently I am using videotron cable modem Internet service and my laptop is though quite latest(P4,512 RAM,DVD drive etc) but processor is not of mobile technology.
What I basically want is capability to surf internet in all rooms in my aprtament .
Will wireless router be able to meet my requirement?
Any technical info will be appreciated.

Yes ! Go purchase a wireless router and a wireless card and you should be fine to roam in your house and access internet

We will find a way or we will make one
Thanks Smiley,
Does that mean any kind of wireless router will work ..actually I am getting a good deal in Netgear MR814CN 802.11B Wireless Router (After MIR only $12.99) but not sure whether it will be OK with my Cable Modem and Laptop config.
My next question is related to wireless card ..I have DELL Inspiron 5100 laptop so do I need to buy specific wireless card for my laptop model?
I do see a slot(About 2 Inch width) next to my DVD drive ..is that made for inserting wireless card?
thanks

Surprisingly no computer expert answered this. B series is no good.Go for ....11G router. Also wireless router is said to slow it down a little but I think it would not matter if heavy stuff is not transferred.
There are many techy forums on internet where you can get more info.

The wireless router does not increase the speed of Internet. The standard 54 mbps or 11 mbps or 108 mbps is mainly the speed of data-transfer from one computer to another. So if you are transferring files like your Word documents, Excel files, mp3 files, etc. then the speed would be faster or slower.
Internet speed is mostly around 2-3 mbps so it does not make a difference. The range of wireless signals may differ & accordingly internet speed may vary. Wireless router is also subject to interference from other devices like cordless phones, microwaves which might be working on the same frequency.
Thanks & rgds.
