This SIN takes 2-3 weeks or so we were told. What are desi's doing for these 2-3 weeks without a job and sIN. Just sitting and applying for jobs...???
Also how do u apply for ohip without any proof of residence. Doesnt waiting for a utility bill waste your time..and extend your private health insurance.

May be even 4 weeks. Yes you got to wait until then. SThis time gives you to study the job market, prepare your resume and do other paperwork. No agency will entertain you without the IN # but you can sending out your resume.
You don't need to hurry on your OHIP. YOu got to wait anyway 3 months for the coverage to kick in . You can even apply it 2 1/2 months from the date u land.
u have to take private insurance for 3 months if u don't want to take a chance God forbid any of ur family members falls sick and u pay from ur pocket.

try contacting, Roger Romeo if u wish and get a quote. I don'treally remember how much it cost us in our intial days foe me and my husband for 3 months. I think it was aruond $ 350/- but thank God we never had to use it. Explain your medical condition and then get.

Try contacting ray as he had given me a quote for prexisitng conditions for my parents ( so long as that prexiting conditions has not occured in the last 6 months, you will be covered if it happens again.

You do not need to sit at home waiting for the SIN card through. When you go to HRDC and apply for a SIN they check all your supporting documents. If they're satisfied, they accept the application and issue a receipt acknowledging that the application is being processed. That counterfoil/receipt is proof enough that SIN is on it's way. You can apply for a bank account on the strength of that document, look for a job and even be employed. I got employed 2 days after I landed but I didn't know my SIN number on the day I joined (actually, it was pre-arranged even before I landed in Canada). After the SIN number came through I told my Human Resource folks of the number.
