but... if you choose the path of war, remember the proverb of Sun Tzu: "Every battle is decided before it is ever fought".

don't fire off an initial emotional barrage by calling the police on the spur of the moment or yelling "FU syruphead !" or something; if you choose the path of agression, go in with overwhelming force.

collect written statements from your landlord, from neighbours backing up your statements. when the police come, it won't be some kindly flatfooted cop with crispy creme donuts smeared all over his face asking the guy to "be nice", but a subpoena or a delegation of cops with a dossier bursting with documents with the case history.

i don't advocate violence or negative confrontations... but it comes to that... be prepared to win... don't 'react'.... act decisively.

anyway, enough advice! waiting for the next installment.

Mr desimisri- somebody has already told you who Motorhead and Judas Priest are. I am not a metal fan- more classic rock- Hendrix, Janis Joplin (34 years since both died), Cream, Ten Years After, Doors etc. Anyway, on another thread you asked if it is OK to email me for some info- go right ahead.Anything to help.

As for the violence- I have already told Wiser now to first try the Mahatma Gandhi route and if that fails to fight fire with fire.

Here we are treading on more familiar ground- I have heard of everybody except Ten Years After. I love the Doors- Roadhouse Blues, LA lady, Gloria.....

Somewhere you have mentioned munji cake and canuklehead and swamp honky. This last I have never heard, but I imagine it means "white trash". I shall ask some of my colleagues tomorrow if they have heard of it. Canuklehead I am told is an expression used by the Americans to make fun of the Canadians- whether they are white, black, brown or yellow. The Americans usually have a low opinion of the Canadians intelligence. It is not a derogatory term for whites alone. Correct me if I am wrong.

Personally desi friends, I read alot of posts where the tone used is extremely strong. This is a debate among normal people, not politicians. Please use civil language and tone. Please note you people have a great site here, make it even greater. Use a tone like Mr Teja. I don't agree with everything he says but at least the tone is subdued. Present ideas and notions- do not pick fights.Somewhere I read that many people have left this site because of personal attacks and harsh tones.

Thanks all of you folks for all the interest you have shown and the advice/suggestions offered.
I was busy over the weekend and couldn't come on line.
Violence on my part is ruled out. First, I do not like violence. Second, with my general average physique, I do not exactly qualify to pick up fisticuffs. Third, and most important, assault is a serious offence here and I do not want to do anything to get myself on the wrong side of the law.
I have also decided not to go to the police with this, at least not immediately.
I have drafted out a note, describing the incident in details, and dropped it off at the building sup's office. I am also thinking of sending/emailing a copy of it to the property management company's main office.
I tried to take a relook at my home theater system, to see if I could do something to help and realized that I could. My subwoofer that sits on the floor has its speaker face to its right. Since my TV is placed in the corner of the room, the subwoofer if placed correctly, causes its speaker to face the wall(this is the wall that is common). I have reoriented the subwoofer so that the subwoofer, although now not pretty to look at with the power connections and speaker wires sticking out now visible, has the speaker now looking into the room instead of into the wall. I guess that should make a substantial difference.
Anyhows, there has been no further incident or provocation over the weekend. It was wrong of him to have used racial slurs, but then one should not expect anything more from creepy assholes like him. As long as he does not pose any danger to me in anyway, I am not really too concerned about what racial biases he, or anyone else for that matter, has.
Thanks again guys. I will keep you posted if there are any developments though I hope there aren't any.
