Coming from a town where TV arrived when I was in final years of my college (or was it early in CA training??!!), and that too I could watch only at a neighbour's place, and where we did not have any radio station which broadcasted English songs - it is difficult for me to get nostalgic with the numbers you have mentioned.
But yes, I still was able to hear the Carpenters and Boney M and they still are my favourites.
That was the time when Jagjit Chitra came out with their first album Milestone (Baat niklegi to door talak jayegi)
But to get what I missed in my teens and early twenties, I would love to join you guys if and when you get together to hear the old 70's and 80's.
And yes, as you said BL, a visit to Mama Mia will be great for my wife and I. I am told it is soon going away.

Hey Chandresh...
Maybe I'm old fashioned feeling as I do
Maybe I'm just living in the past
But when I meet the right one, I know I'll be true
My first love will be my last
When I fall in love, it will be forever
Or I'll never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before it's begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun
When I give me heart, it will be completely
Or I'll never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you
And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you

When I fall in love it will be forever ....
Hey I heard that no. by Dean Martin or Al Martino (Spanish Eyes --t he sweetest eyes in whole Mexisco........... Please dont cry --coz this is adios and not Good bye ........)
And Frank Sinatra (roll on those lazy hazy crazy days of Summer those days of soda and somethign and beer ).....
Frank Sinatra / Dean Martin / Nat King Cole /Al Martino --------- guys these artistes are like Talad Mehmood and Hemant Kr .
Yeah O_N I missed out on Andrew Ridgley & George Michaels WHAM s nos . in ur list .I recall the school girls used 2 go gaga over GM !!
Madonna was and continues 2 b a personal fav . I think y r choice of songs meanders around 70 s and 80 s is prob due to the age that we gew up in ------- I mean I do hear to music these days also but its not with the same jest and spirit of a teenager .
That reminds me does any1 recall 'Teenager in Love'
And how wud we forget amongst the Greatests --- 'Theme for a Dream' /Outsider / Evergreen Tree ---- CLIFF RICHARD . Undoubtedly artistes are immortal they continue 2 live on in the hearts of ppl even after their death .
Hv a pleasent weekend .
Manasvi.
Chandresh,
i hear you, we got our first TV in early 80s i guess ... maybe i was a few yrs behind you . i agree that music of that time had a special magic to it .
listening to some indian tunes of 60,70 is such a great experience in itself....somehow 80s did not produce as good bollywood music .
even songs which i thought were silly in india , make me stop here and does magic to my ears....
just the other day i was walking down Gerrard and a store was playing ....
"aye dil todne wale...tujhe dil dhoond raha hai ... " (wonder which movie it was )
and i stoped stayed around the in store ....till the wonderful memories came back of the time when i first heard it ....enjoyed it completely ...and walked on ....(had to buy some chikki for the time i spent just listening to the song) .
when i was leaving the next number was
"Kaun aaya ki nigaahon mein chamak jaag uthi"....i had no time to wait for this one too but i surely walked away with a lot more energy.
Nothing beats indian oldies ....what do you say !! maybe in our next meeting we should play oldies and enjoy together.

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
I love ABBA, Boney M and all the disco stuff fromt he 70s and 80s.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Someone mentioned Cliff Richard
"When I was young my father said
Son I've somthing to say
And what he said I'll never forget
Until my dying day
He said son, you be a bachelor boy ..."
Hg6...Any Favs of ABBA, BONEY-M ?
