But the figure of 175000 people relying on food banks everyday in GTA is not correct and highly inflated.

Because these numbers do not match your expectations that’s why these seems to be “highly inflated”.

If I have to choose one most reliable source of information out of 2 (Global TV and MI) .....definitely I will go with Global TV… you may think or write whatever you want..it does not really matter, isn’t it?

Thanks and regards.

What about the comment that 10% of Canada's population is homeless, Biomed? Do you stand by that?

You are unable to substantiate your comment when you initiated this thread that 10% of Canada's population is homeless! That is simply because that figure is not true.

Don’t think that here I am trying to prove something. I know what I am writing as all these numbers are from national/international government agencies. I respect BL’s suggestion not to be too personal in the forum so I am not going to write much .

Only thing I would like to say that if you want to know the real (?) numbers … instead of asking me go and find those numbers by yourself.

Thanks and regards.

Bottomline: Where did you read / hear that 10% of Canada's population is homeless?

You started a new thread to make that point!

Guys,

Lets not get stuck at one point here...

Read this link

http://www.canoe.ca/CNEWSFeatures0204/07_homeless2-sun.html

There are close ot 6000 homeless persons who live in shelter everyday in Torono.
I am not second guessing Bio hearing the news on Global TV , but was the number a monthly figure or daily figure?

(If 6000 daily meals are served at foodbanks , in a month it will make it 180000, pretty close to your 175,000 number)

But Biomed has a point that the numbers are rising and it is a matter of concern.

His numbers maynot be accurate but the point is valid .

Lets move on.

The issue is that the numbers were being exaggerated to make some kind of point.......

I quote from Biomed's first post on the subject:

".......but still we claim, we are the best place to live on the face of the earth:D"

I had also read on the Toronto Sun that the number was 175k on a monthly basis (which would translate to 6000 meals served X 30 days). Unfortunately, the title to this thread was again distorted to make it seem that there were 175k homeless people in Toronto.

If Biomed didn't understand the numbers, he shouldn't have posted them here, sensationalizing them with the intention of degrading Toronto.

Hi Desis,

Dont you still believe that Canadian Govt. is playing dirty game in the name of immigration?

Sort of cover up to boost economy.......recall my earlier calculation 200,000 heads x CAD 10,000 per year = ???????? billions.........pouring into economy......

Once $$$$is poured ....who cares whether they get job or wait for food ticket to survive?????

Many believe its better than India.........Manyways it is......
