Hi
I have a question about taxes and citizenship.
Due to my past income from the US, even though I claimed a foreign tax credit,
CCRA sent me a huge bill for $12000 !! This has been outstanding issue since 2002. 2003 taxes were fine.
My question is when we apply for citizenship, are tax disputes(unsettled as of now) held against you(a factor enough to deny citizenship)?
Also can somebody suggest some tax/accountant to help me out with this.
Unfortunately I am not in Toronto but in Halifax. however was in Ontario in 2002 so this unresolved issue is relevant to Ontario.
Thanks
Did u send them the copy of the US income tax return along with the W-2 for that Year for which you claimed the Forecign tax credit. This should not be an issue once they receive it ..
