Have you personally tried to meet any of those people who have put up their success stories and requested to learn from them? My stress is on 'learn from them, and no on 'just meeting them for the heck of it'. Chandresh

May I ask, why you insist that these people who have submitted their success story be met with at an individual level. Is there any harm in having an open question/answer session on the board itself.
In so far as "bashing" is concerned, I do not think any of the "success story tellers" have got "bashed" except GiG, and that too for reasons that are quite obvious. Can I request you to link me to any thread/post where any of the other stories have been flamed?? If the story is genuine the presenter should be able to answer any questions satisfactorily. Why will there be need for "bashing"? The latter becomes possible only when someone feels that the presenter is resorting to fraud and lies, only to further his argument. Facts cannot get bashed!

Folks, hold on. Take a breather. No need to argue/fight.

Chandresh is right about meeting. Again, it's an individual choice. The successful desi on this board may not want to meet others. At least they can communicate with individuals who ned tips/help by email.

Again, please dont argue/fight. We desis have enough problems.

You want success people to come to this site. What about those successful people who come to this site, post their success story but hide their identity for obvious reason that they are not contacted for .........

I do not want to get into this 'good for nothing' discussion - but my comment is - Have you personally tried to meet any of those people who have put up their success stories and requested to learn from them? My stress is on 'learn from them, and no on 'just meeting them for the heck of it'. If not, you have no right to blame those who have come forward to tell the world that they have achieved something, but only get a bashing in response.

Chandresh

I would ask same what DiogenestheCynic has asked, but it is best to drop this fight here and not go further 10 pages talking of one particular case.
Congrats for starting a desi mentor forum. Lets hope for the best. Some day we may be utilizing the service or providing. Either way it is appreciated.

Today I called up to register for the program and here is what happened:

1. Tried to contact my employment advisor at Costi - the agency responsible for running this program in York region - she was not in, no idea when she will be back and not sure whether she will be back today or not.

2. No one else can help me on this mentorship program since that office has no idea about it.

3. Given telephone no of another Costi office to find if they knew about this program.

4. Called that office. Given a name Ireana and a phone no to contact her. When I enquired where is that office located, the person giving me the number did not know the location of this office of Irena.

5. Called up that number -found that it was a long distance number.

6. Called again - Irean picked up and spoke in a worse than 'desi' English/accent (no offence meant please - just to show that people who have their connections, can get jobs in semi-govt/not for profit organisations in customer service even with bad English!!!!)

7. As soon as I enquired about the program, she read out a script (to me it seemed like that) asking me to give my last name, first name and phone no, and said that someone will contact me in a few days' time.

8. I asked 'why a few days?', her answer was, that is what she had been told. I asked her 'how many days', she replied - 'I don't know and do not want to give you false hope'.

9. Asked her where is this office located - got a reply, sorry we cannot disclose that!

So what do I do now? - sit down on my chair next to the phone and shake legs for a few days waiting for the phone to ring! Worse than waiting for some interviewer to call me!

And this office has been funded by the taxes and EI that I have paid:kaioken:
