Chandresh,
At least u tried doing something. That's important and much appreciated.
My suggestion would be to do something on those lines here in CD. Start a new section on charcha called "Mentoring" (I am just throwing ideas around). No tel nos. given out since this is a privacy issue. Individuals who need help can drop an email to those ready to mentor and they can communicate on their own. And keep the CD informed.
This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode......the Protege-Mentor one......remember????

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

Are u talking about the one where Kramer gets the university grad to assist him in his one man company?? That was hilarious! The grad fixing up Kramer's lunh appointment with Jerry, and then squeaking out on George at the restaurant telling Jerry that George had dipped his hands in the glass to get the ice!!

May I ask, why you insist that these people who have submitted their success story be met with at an individual level. Is there any harm in having an open question/answer session on the board itself.
In so far as \"bashing\" is concerned, I do not think any of the \"success story tellers\" have got \"bashed\" except GiG, and that too for reasons that are quite obvious.

- Well, I could never agree more with you DTC. I would have done the same what you did. But as they tell you always, there are two kinds of people in this world, those who see an opportunity and others who dont. When Opportunity knocks on your door as well get up and answer it. After posting my success story, I got PM's from 5 people and 4 have been answered, but surprising none from guys who got into so called \"bashing\" and \"baloney\" calling.
Problem with most of us is that we see the forest but not the trees. Chandresh - didnt read my answer to his point no 5 - and neither did any of you care to read the last few lines of my answers to the post.
To tell you the truth I have already got myself enrolled for the Maytree foundation the very day the advt appeared and it is my endeavor to help people out - only when they are willing to stretch. God permitting, shall be deciding on whom to take on as proteges.
And as you rightly say - facts cannot get bashed. And thats the truth.
I do not intend to irritate people and spoil the sangunity of this post but thats the fact.
Best of luck to one and all.
There is absolutely no problem in offering a mentoring program and I am sure the right people will come forward. The only issue here is that the protege has to look at this in terms of developing skills, career counselling and not to just get contact names or job references. Most companies do have mentoring programs and it usually involves working with the interested employee to develop skills that would help the person fulfill long-term career goals.
I am sure if experienced mentors are ready to offer their services and expectations of protegies are discussed upfront, an initiative such as this can succeed.
