It is pasted in all stores that are owned by companies and are members of CMA such as Dominion, Loblaws, Sears, Walmart, No Frills, Highland Farms,Shopper Drug Mart and so on. It is a law.

It is called "Scanning Procedure Code of Canada"

I have heard about this rule - and a couple of times have asked to be compensated for that at Wal Mart and Loblaws, but they said there was no such rule. I tried to google today on the phrase, but could not find any reference to this. Is it possible for you to send us a link where we can find this rule/law/policy of a particular store? This could be beneficial to all of us.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked about this at Wal-Mart and the rep at refund said you can get a refund if you want but did not mention about this policy that you can get something free up to $10 if the cashier clerk charges you wrong. Anyway after I returned the item I was able to locate the sticker posted in one corner before cashier checkout about this policy. Did not take up the matter after that as I had already returned the item and got refund.

Just found a link from search engine

many a times on the shelves the produce price is displayed in LBS...and when you actually check out..on the recpt it is in KGS......I have found couple of times that when you convert LBS to KGS...the check out price is higher...and then the same story....sorry Sir.....we'll refund the diff bla bla bla.....I am not the kind of person who would create a big hue and cry...but somebody should really teach them a lesson......

always check the recpt like twice.....sometimes the item code is also not punched correctly and then you end up paying lke $6-$10 more every week....that's a lot of money for these stores as everybody do not bother to check the recpt......

I have always found this notice abt free upto $10 if wrong scan...but was never offered the same by any supervisor....they just give you the refund.....

Apart from the link given by Reachash, I found this link as well, and it also conveyes the same practice but does not state that it is a law.
