I recently heard of a co-worker who left her car out at night parked at a place that had a dripping water pipe overhead.
Next morning, all the water had frozen into a thick layer of ice all over the car.
It took her almost 3 hrs. just to scrape the ice off the door to get inside the car and turn on the engine.
CAA had to do the rest
And yes, this was in Toronto

I had CAA, they had 3+ hours wait for tow truck and told me that I will be better off trying to get a tow truck on my own and getting reimbrused.
I used to work for one of towing contractor for AAA while at Univ. Tire change is not a favorite task for tow truck drivers. They also hate it if tire change service call is from a guy. They don't make enough money changing tire for CAA/AAA, they rather tow you and charge CAA base+mileage than change tire in bitter cold outside and get paid less.

Rather than stepping out into the cold when you have a flat, you might want to consider joining an Auto Club (and call in a tow truck to take care of the flat).
Incidentally, if you use the Canadian Tire Auto Club, you could get yourself a tow back to a Canadian Tire facility, where the flat would be repaired for free. Besides, for the $60 that you'd pay in annual fees, you get coupons for oil changes![]()

Well, it is not trying to make the winter seem like one major hassle - it is a hassel and even original Canadians hate it. However, what most people are trying to do here is just make others, who are inexperienced, aware of the situations and precautions to be taken.

Hey,
What're all you amateurs rambling on about?
Here's what the expert on the matter, Punxsutawney Phil, is saying

Btw, on a somewhat related note, if you haven't seen Bill Murray's "GroundHog day", I would highly recommend you do. One of the best movies I've seen.

Are you there?
