They might be using this as a selling tool ...... this is a classic case of
"I blame those who did it before me and did'nt warn me .... and I blame those who did it after me and did'nt listen to me "
These people would be lured in by showing green pastures , pay them slightly above minimum wage ..... keep them on a contract for a short term so the employers do not have to cover any benefits .... after the work finishes the contracts would not be renewed and Canada would have a huge unemployed skilled labour force. These immigrants would be left to fend for themselves .... with almost 40% of their income payed off in taxes and rest to be spent in living expenses ..... The government manages to create a small boost to the BC Province by inducing economic growth (short term). The Premiere looks like a HERO.
The BC governement should be offering these migrant workers a tax incentive , Certification of skills as per the Canadian standards before they land , subsidized housing for a certain term ....
You get to meet such "Skilled" workers everyday driving taxi cabs, delivering Pizza, operating gas stations, doing volunteering work at different levels hopeing and striving to get the break they had expected.
How come the BC government does not offer an incentive to the immigrants who are already here ..... and have been thru the meat grinder , and the ones who already have "CANADIAN EXPERIENCE".
How about getting the ones who are on WELFARE ..... and get them to do some work for a change..... instead of using our money thru taxes and paying for their living.
How would you term it "Catch22" or "Irony of Fate" for the other half.
