I really like to know on what basis you've made such a statement.
Can you point to a Govt. Website, Police website or anything.
What made you to generalize people based on Region and ethnicity ?

Alberta is good uptil now because it is mainly white. Not too many coloured people. Once Desi's,Chinese, Trinis's and Blacks start moving in then it will become like Toronto and Vancouver with crime, drug and social problems.

The most notorious areas in Edmonton and Calgary are the Desi areas. Millwoods in Edmonton and North East Calgary are the desi areas and they are the worst areas of these cities. Known for crime, teenage vandalism, drugs , shootings etc.

So the goras consider all Desi's same like the ones staying in these areas and Desi's have a bad name here.

Hello!
Can someone from Edmonton area back this accusation?
By Desi's i assume you mean people from the Republic of India and by Chinese i assume that you mean people from the country China.
Let us hear other people's views. Personally , i find your accusation very hard to belive but i am from toronto.
In toronto, none of the people that i am trying to support engage themselves in the accusations mentioned.

I feel its just the opposite. In the link, it is the caucasians who are at fault and guilty of racial behaviour.

The most south asians would do will be immoral activites as abusing the liberal policies of retailers, taking advantage of systemic flaws, looking for tax breaks etc...I hardly believe any south asians (Indians) would be involved in physical assaults.

From the article it seems we are the victims and not the cause.

I have lived for a short time in NE - Calgary in 2001.
However I wasnt aware of its reputation for indo-canadian crime problems. I did find a large # of Indian Immigrants in the area.

In BC, (where the "voiceonline" article originates from) there is noted crime in the indo canadian community - related to gangs, drugs, as well as intergenerational issues (ie/ parents killing children that have dishonored them). There is racism and violence as well.

I think this discussion is very good. I think those of you that are first generations who are going to/ are currently raising your children in NA may want to comment on this:

What do you think is the leading cause of indo-canadian crime/violence? What is the contributing factor to the gang culture and drug use among the youth? Any guesses?

I have read many articles which all seem to point to: lack of communication between parents and their children. Do you feel this is true? The perception also is that parents are too busy to give time to their children thus they throw money at them (ie/ cars, tons of spending money)

any comments?

MR,
There was one case of indian parents killing their daughter . you canot generalise with just one incident.
In Toronto, A sri lankan lady murdered 2 of her infant children due to post partum depression. Based on that , i canot generalise that most srilankan females murder infant children. it was just a case.

Which desi have money like this? Most of them live hand to mouth, atleast those who immigrated. May be the rich desi's should learn from the Italian model. Italians (atleast in Toronto) are rich but most of their children are good people. Can anyone say why?
Even if Desi's (i mean Indian from India) had money, no one will spend it like water on children. They will save or send the money as savings to India.

There have been a few cases in BC in the last 10 years or so (Im not sure how far back) - not just one unfortunately.

I dont know if I can specify what group of desi's have got money and which dont.

Thanks.
