Few days before, I was watching the pop songs countdown and other promos on some Indian channels (was it B4U or some other channel? ).
But I was surprised at the amount of skin being showed by the dancers in the song, not to mention the vulgar gyrations. I do not consider myself socially conservative, but there has to be a line between good taste and vulgarity. And the producers in India seems to have crossed the line. I wonder if there is any censorship prevalent or not.
We, in India always blame west for the "evils" that their culture imposes, but never on any Canadian channels have I seen such a tasteless display of skin. Movies/Programmes with adult content are usually aired after 11 PM, and has a strict warning prior to the programme.
In addition,
I have read somewhere, that TV producers have agreed to ban vulgar songs on the channels, but they have'nt decided to ban the remixes. So IMO, the problem is still not resolved. We will still have some model, wearing a saree, dancing to the remixed tune of "Sainya Dil Mein Aana Re" . Yikes!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like throwing up
Meghal..what u need is Ed The Sock ... and the movie that follows Ed The Sock... plenty of "u-know-what"...This is City TV...everywhere
But i agree with you . The shows on Indian channels are trashy no doubt and i hate them. Its a good thing that I do not have any interest in watching those silly shows. But who knows..some day I may even watch them...but until then...

I got Zee and Sony for a couple of months as my Mom was visiting from India and My GOD! the shows are crap. They are so cheesy that watching even one show for more than 5 minutes is sheer torture. I wonder how people in India (Mom Included) can watch it with such avid interest?

Trust Ekta Kapoor for all the trash on the Indian channels. And people are crazy about them. Serials like "Kyonki saas bhi....", "Ghar ghar ki kahani", "KKusum" and the list goes on. They voilate human and family values to the maximum extend. They watch them with all the devotion and sincerity. If they would spend just half the time doing something good, India would be a better place and these serials would go off the air. One thing good out of these serials is that it has brought new talent out and those fellows who want to move on, they continue their journey.
